7th September 2006
Ann presented her painting, “Crossing the Swale” to local MP, Derek Wyatt at the artHouse Gallery in Sittingbourne.
A new bridge crossing the Swale to the Isle of Sheppey was completed in 2006, and Ann was inspired by the counterpoint of flowing curves and angular construction between the new and old bridges. Derek Wyatt had expended much time and effort over the years to bring this project to fruition.

Presentation of 100th Birthday Cushion to Lilian “Snowy” Snowden, Herne Bay
Ann was commissioned by Snowy’s family to paint a silk cushion for her 100th birthday. This involved finding out about her life and scouring through old photo albums for the relevant information and images before finalising the design. It incorporated a silhouette of 'Snowy' surrounded by her 6 children, with 4 scenes illustrating stages of her life. Around the main circle are the four names she has been known by, and her favourite colour red has been used for the background.

Smooth as Silk. Exhibition at the Nevill Gallery, Canterbury
"An art exhibition with a difference – paintings on silk rather than paper or canvas runs at the Nevill Gallery, St Peter’s Street, Canterbury, until 17 November 2006. Swale artist Ann Young uses a wide range of techniques and is particularly inspired by water and sky, frequently using these as backdrops for bird and other animal studies. The results are vibrant paintings that shimmer and change with the light when viewed from different positions. This is silk painting that undeniably joins the ranks of fine art."
